Local Heroes

Our region is home to a number of strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and leaders. Meet some of them below, and hear their stories.

Shantelle Thompson is known in her community as the ‘Barkindji Warrior’ a fighter and warrior for her people. She has fought to be a protector and role model for her family and community from a very young age. This is her story.
