SUNRAYSIA MEN'S SHED Inc.

DSCF2201

The Sunraysia Men's Shed was first envisaged in 2007 and, following a meeting with the local state MP, Peter Crisp, a steering committee was set up to gauge the community response to the suggestion that a shed was needed.

The steering committee received good feedback on the proposal and set about realising the idea. Over the next few years, the shed grew in numbers, but a permanent home could not be found until an offer was made of space at the waste facility entrance. Unfortunately, a serious flood in 2011 covered the area set aside for the shed.

A further delay ensued until the CEO of SUNITAFE made an offer that could not be refused and the shed was built on land set aside for us. We have just signed a second 10-year Memorandum of Understanding to remain at this site.

The shed was officially opened on 4th May 2013 by the Mayor of Mildura Cr Glenn Milne.

The Sunraysia Men’s Shed welcomes all men of Sunraysia, residents and visiting travellers are welcome to come along and join in the activities, meet the members, and have a cup of tea or coffee. Local and visiting Veterans are particularly welcome. If you seek companionship and a chance to work on our equipment, please come along.

Activities at the shed include various woodworking projects manufacturing, restoring or repairing furniture, toys and other items. We have a wide variety of professional machinery and trade tools to enable us to attack almost any job we are given. Training and competency checks on all tools.

Metalwork tools for welding, cutting metal turning are also available for use following training and competency checks.

We also run sausage sizzles every Sunday at the Coles store in 15th St and occasionally at Bunnings and at various sites around the city for business and community events.

We are also involved with Dementia Australia assisting at regular monthly BBQs and offering activities at the shed.
