Community Climate Emergency Plan – Community Consultation Workshops

Residents are invited to have their say on their key priorities in a climate emergency at community consultation workshops being held throughout October 2022.

In February 2020, Mildura Rural City Council became the 30^th Local Government in Victoria, and the 94^th in Australia, to declare a climate emergency. Since then, MRCC has developed and is implementing its Towards Zero Emissions Strategy 2021-2050.

MRCC has also been working with the Climate Emergency Community Advisory Group to develop and implement a Community Climate Emergency Plan with community owned and activated climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

The workshops aim to capture the community’s ideas and priorities across a range of topics including the natural environment, built/urban environment, farming, business/industry, waste, education and health in a climate emergency.
