Social Media Terms of Use
These Terms of Use are designed to ensure community members have a positive experience when engaging with Mildura Rural City Council and other community members via Council-managed social media channels.
We encourage ideas, feedback, questions and experiences from our community. We support open discussion and expect participants to behave in a courteous and respectful manner.
We reserve the right to delete comments and content that are, in the opinion of our responsible officers:
- Misleading, obscene, graphic, off-topic or spam;
- Hateful or denigrating towards an individual or group of individuals based on their ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation;
- Repetitive posts copied or duplicated or materially repetitive posts by single or multiple users;
- False or mischievous complaints or statements about individuals, companies or any government or government agency;
- Unlawful or incite others to break the law;
- Breach copyright or intellectual property laws;
- Promotional, commercial or overtly political in nature;
- Information that may compromise the safety or security of individual members of our community, our staff, Councillors or volunteers;
- Defamatory or harassing of any person;
- Any other inappropriate content or comments as determined by the responsible officers.
We reserve the right to:
- Warn anyone who violates the above guidelines by publicly responding to the post;
- Permanently ban access to anyone who violates the above guidelines. We may implement the ban without warning;
- Report inappropriate, illegal or otherwise concerning posts to Victoria Police or other relevant agencies.
From time-to-time, we may mention, tag or share content from a local business or organisation. This is not to be viewed as a formal endorsement in any way and does not necessarily mean Council has a partnership or sponsorship agreement with that business or organisation.
Privacy
We take privacy very seriously. Any personal, sensitive, unique or identifiable information inadvertently or otherwise posted to our social media networks may be collected from those networks by our monitoring, reporting and archiving platforms and will abide by Council’s Privacy Statement.
Monitoring
Our social media pages are monitored during business hours from Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Any posts submitted outside these times will receive a response the following business day or as soon as is practicable. Weekend and Public Holiday monitoring will be on an ad hoc basis.
While we will try to assist with simple questions or issues via our social media platforms, this is not a formal customer support platform and any urgent or complicated issues should be directed to our Customer Support team on 03 5018 8100.
Complaints or concerns
If you would like to report a post for us to review, please direct message us online, send an email to news@mildura.vic.gov.au or contact the Executive Communications Officer on 03 5018 8100.
