In a coup for local fantasy fiction lovers, multi-award winning author Isobelle Carmody will visit Mildura Library on Thursday 20 August 2015.

Isobelle Carmody is an acclaimed Australian author who has written novels for people of all ages, with the Obernewtyn Chronicles series being one of her most popular.

Arts and Culture portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said it is a great opportunity for fans both young and old to get a sneak peak at what’s coming up in the final instalment of the Obernewtyn Chronicles.

“The final book of the seven book series, The Red Queen, is due for release in November this year,” Cr Joslyn said.  “So those of you anxiously waiting to see what happens next in the story of Elspeth Gordie, might be able to pry a few hints from Isobelle on her visit.

Isobelle first started work on the Obernewtyn Chronicles when she was only 14 years old.  Other titles from her include the Little Fur children’s book series and beautifully illustrated picture books such as The Wrong Thing and Night School.

“Isobelle is a unique author in that she writes for so many different audiences,” Cr Joslyn said.  “It really is an opportunity to spend some time talking with a great Aussie author.”

As library staff are anticipating this to be a very popular author visit, everyone wanting to attend are encouraged to reserve their free ticket as soon as possible.

Bookings for the event are available online from www.mildura.vic.gov.au/library or from library branches, with the event starting at 7:30pm.
