Nowingi Place will once again host Mildura Rural City Council’s annual Australia Day event, with another big crowd expected.

The free community celebration will get underway from 8.30am and feature a free breakfast and coffee van.

Those attending will also enjoy live entertainment, while helping to acknowledge the winners of Council’s 2024 Australia Day awards.

Winners will be announced across three categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event/Project of the Year.

Mildura Mayor Cr Liam Wood encouraged the community to mark the occasion by the riverfront.

“Our Australia Day celebrations are a great time for our community to come together and reflect on what it means to be a part of our community, and our wonderful country,” Cr Wood said.

“I certainly encourage our community to bring along a chair or picnic rug and enjoy the morning.”

Cr Wood said the unveiling of the 2024 Australia Day Award winners is one of the many highlights of the day.

“Council’s annual Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals, community organisations and groups in our region,” Cr Wood said.

“These prestigious awards are one of the highest honours Council can bestow to publicly acknowledge local heroes, whose dedication and contributions may otherwise go unnoticed.”
