Award winning Australian musicians to take Mildura Arts Centre stage
Published on 21 November 2016
Local audiences are encouraged to get along to Mildura Arts Centre to see the Love Songs performance by two of Australia's most respected musicians, Kate Ceberano and Paul Grabowsky – a wonderful repertoire of music about love lost, found and unrequited.
Audiences will be treated to their reinterpretations of some of the great love songs of the past 50 years, selected because of their ability to connect on a deep emotional level and more importantly, because they have influenced both artists at some point in their lives.
As the high priestess of pop and an award-winning jazz singer, Kate has lived the rock star life jazz vocalists dream of. In the wake of her 24 albums, countless awards, TV appearances, festival highlight performances and generally prolific creative output, Kate stands as the icon emerging artists appeal to for hope, integrity and pride in their work. She is more than a National Treasure, she is a cultural diplomat and carries with her the torch to light a thousand paths for the future of live jazz vocalists everywhere.
Kate brings with her long-time musical partner, ARIA and Helpmann Award-winning Paul Grabowsky.
Paul is one of Australia’s most distinguished artists and is a prominent feature in Australia’s jazz landscape as a pianist, composer, arranger and conductor. In 2014, he was awarded The Order of Australia (AO) for services to music as an educator, a mentor composer and pianist. Paul's contribution to Australian jazz is vast and deep, and his influence underscores generations with his wise, wonderful and whimsical way of approaching music making.
Love Songs has been brought to the region by the successful partnership between Mildura Arts Centre and Melbourne Recital Centre, supported by the RACV Music for Victoria program. Audiences are sure to be inspired by the colourful arrangement of music and will not want the show to end.
