Battle of the Bands a chance for local musicians to shine
Published on 05 May 2017
Sunraysia’s future music stars looking to break into the music industry are being encouraged to nominate for this year’s FReeZA Battle of the Bands Competition.
The competition is open to young musicians under 25, and will be held on Friday, 2 June at Mildura Senior College.
The event not only provides a chance for local artists to get noticed and gain exposure, but hone their musical and performing skills, as well as win their way to a spot in the Grand Final line-up.
Open to performers of any style of music, including bands, soloists, duos, hip hop, electronic and acoustic acts, Mildura’s FReeZA Battle of the Bands Competition is part of a broader statewide competition showcasing young musicians from across Victoria.
Mildura Rural City Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper encouraged local artists to enter the competition, which also allows musicians to get their original material heard.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the numerous talented young musicians in our area to get noticed,” Cr Cupper said.
“Not only will they have a chance to perform and gain exposure at a local level, they could also get noticed on the much larger stage of the FReeZa Battle of the Bands Competition Grand Final.”
The Mildura FReeZA Committee is offering cash prizes for the local winner, runner-up and most popular band, which will be judged by door vote.
Local artists interested in entering the competition can get application forms from Council’s website at www.mildura.vic.gov.au or by calling in to Mildura Rural City Council at 108 Madden Avenue, Mildura.
Artists can also keep up-to-date by visiting the Youth Services Facebook page.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 26 May.
