Calling on Sunraysia’s young film makers
Published on 02 October 2017
If you’ve got an idea for a short film, or have already created your masterpiece, consider entering it in our Show Us Your Shorts FReeZA Film Competition.
Open to all secondary school-aged youth within the Mildura Rural City Council municipality, the inaugural event is free to enter and must include films produced in 2016 or 2017.
Films must also be between three and 10 minutes long and can be provided on either a USB stick or by email.
Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper encouraged the region’s young film makers to enter their works.
“This is a great opportunity for our talented young film makers to hone their skills and have their works seen by a much wider audience,” Cr Cupper said.
“It’s also a chance for the broader community to gain an insight into what our young people are achieving, and what they’re capable of.”
There are two prizes on offer – an overall winner, who will receive $300, and a People’s Choice award of $200.
Winners will be announced at a special viewing at the Mildura Arts Centre on 23 November, where all films will be shown. The People’s Choice award will be voted on during this screening.
Entries are open until 1 November and must include a completed entry form. They can be emailed to youthservices@mildura.vic.gov.au or posted to PO Box 105 Mildura 3500. Entry forms are available at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/Youth.
