Mildura Rural City Council will mark Harmony Week this month with two events aimed at celebrating and increasing understanding of our region’s rich cultural diversity.

Harmony Week is celebrated annually and is aimed at bringing Australians together from all different backgrounds to celebrate and recognise diversity.

Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Community Development Helen Healy said two Mildura-based events this month would provide an opportunity for local residents to immerse themselves in other cultures.

“We’re so fortunate in our region to boast a community from an amazingly diverse range of backgrounds and cultures, however many in our region may know little about each other’s rich cultures,” Cr Healy said.

“Our Community Dinner and the Cultural Diversity webinar next week are the perfect opportunities to literally sample and get a taste for other cultures, as well as learn more about the wonderfully diverse make up of or community.”
