Parents or guardians looking to enrol their children in kindergarten or pre-kindergarten next year can now do so through one simple, central enrolment process.

From 1 May this year enrolment at six local kindergartens and pre-kindergartens will be co-ordinated by Mildura Rural City Council.

The six participating kindergartens are:

  • Irymple Kindergarten
  • Kathleen Kelly Kindergarten
  • Mildura South Kindergarten
  • Mildura West Kindergarten
  • Nangiloc and District Kindergarten
  • Red Cliffs Kindergarten

Under this new central enrolment system, parents or guardians can lodge enrolment forms for participating kindergartens at any of Council’s Customer Service Centres, providing a simpler, more convenient process rather than submitting forms to each kindergarten individually.

Enrolment forms can also be lodged by emailing kindergarten@mildura.vic.gov.au or by posting to Kindergarten Enrolment Officer, PO Box 105 Mildura, Victoria, 3502.

Portfolio Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper said that while parents and guardians were still encouraged to visit prospective kindergartens before making a decision, the new centralised system would provide a much more equitable enrolment process.

“It’s still important for parents to do their own research, including visiting kindergartens and attending open days, however when they’re ready to enrol their child, they can do this at any of Council’s conveniently located Service Centres, regardless of where the kindergarten is located,” Cr Cupper said.

“It also provides the option to enrol online, providing plenty of options for parents or guardians.”

Enrolments under the new centralised system opened on 1 May, with first-round places closing on 30 June. Enrolments will still be accepted and collated after this date. Enrolments for second-round places close on 31 July, while third-round places will continue until children have been allocated places.

Enrolment forms are available from MRCC Service Customer Service Centres, Council’s website, participating kindergartens, Council’s Maternal and Child Health Centres and Mallee District Aboriginal Services’ Early Years Hub.

Enrolments at other kindergartens in the district need to be made individually.
