Change room upgrades to usher in a new era for Mildura Waves
Published on 06 January 2020
The Mildura Waves change rooms are about to undergo the biggest upgrade since the popular venue was established more than 20 years ago.
Work will start in February this year on a $720,000 upgrade of the family, women’s and men’s change rooms which will transform these facilities and provide an all-new experience for Mildura Waves members and visitors.
Councillor for Recreation and Sport Glenn Milne said the massive upgrade will be carried out in a staged approach to ensure access to change room and shower facilities at all times during the works.
“Much more than just a visual upgrade, this project will include significant improvements to the layout of the change room facilities, aimed at making them more user-friendly, enjoyable and safer for centre users,” Cr Milne said.
“Visually, patrons will certainly notice the fresh, much more contemporary interior design, however this upgrade goes a lot deeper than that to improve access and amenity for our community.”
Key upgrades include:

The upgrade will not only improve user safety and comfort, but will be low maintenance to ensure lower running costs.
Work is expected to start in early February and be completed by mid-to-late July 2020.
Cr Milne said the upgrade would be the second major refurbishment for the Mildura Waves facility in less than 12 months.
Council completed the first upgrade in May last year, which included replacing the filtration system for the swimming pools, wave pool and spa, repainting and carpeting of the gym area, replacing gym equipment, and internal painting of the pool hall and associated steelwork.
“Mildura Waves is our flagship community and recreation facility, however it was built more than 20 years ago and is sorely in need of a new lease on life,” Cr Milne said.
“A lot of the high-use areas are showing signs of deterioration, are dated and becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.
“This program of works will address these issues, providing a better experience for users of the facility now and for 20 years to come."
