Changes to bin collections for 1,100 Mildura households

Kerbside bin collections for some households in Mildura are set to change.

Due to growth in the Mildura South area, Mildura Rural City Council has revised its weekly kerbside rubbish collection and fortnightly recycling collection routes to ensure all bins can be emptied on their specified days.

Environmental Sustainability Portfolio Councillor Judi Harris said the changes would impact approximately 1,100 households all up.

“Council provides regular rubbish and recycling collection services for about 22,500 households and we want to continue to deliver these services as effectively as possible,” Cr Harris said.

“We have revised our collection schedules to accommodate the growing residential population in some parts of Mildura South and want to make sure all affected residents are aware and prepared for the changes.”

Bin collections will change for two specific areas:

Between Thirteenth Street, San Mateo Avenue, Fourteenth Street and Etiwanda Avenue View Map(PDF, 3MB)

Number of properties: Approximately 700
Change: Rubbish and recycling collection day will change from a Tuesday to a Monday as of Monday 7 December. Bins will be emptied on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 24 November: Rubbish & recycling
  • Tuesday 1 December: Rubbish
  • Monday 7 December: Rubbish & Recycling
  • Monday 14 December:  Rubbish
  • Monday 21 December: Rubbish & Recycling
  • And continuing in this pattern on every Monday thereafter.

Number of properties: Approximately 400
Change: Fortnight that recycling bins are emptied will change as of Tuesday 24 November. There will be NO change to rubbish collections. Recycling bins will be emptied on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 17 November (regular collection fortnight)
  • Tuesday 24 November (new collection fortnight)
  • Tuesday 8 December (new collection fortnight)
  • and every Tuesday each fortnight thereafter

Council has written to all residents in the affected areas notifying them of these changes and encouraged anyone with questions or concerns to call Council for more information.

“Whatever day your bins are collected it is important you put them out the night before and to ensure they are clear of any obstructions such as parked cars, letter boxes or signs.”
