Changes to landfill and transfer station hours during festive break
Published on 16 December 2021
Residents will notice changes to some Mildura Rural City Council landfill and transfer station hours during the holiday period due to the dates that Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on this year.
The Mildura Landfill will remain open throughout most of the holiday period, only closing for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Walpeup
Tuesday 1pm to 3pm and Sunday 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Murrayville
Thursday 3pm to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 11am.
There are no changes to the opening hours of the Ouyen Landfill, or the Cullulleraine, Werrimull and Nangiloc transfer stations.
Any changes to opening hours will have no impact on kerbside bin collection services or schedules.
Residents are encouraged follow a few simple tips this festive season to avoid excess waste, including:
- Pop all food scraps into the green bin – there are still thousands of tonnes of food scraps going into residents’ red bins.
- Cardboard from Christmas gifts can be recycled at Mildura Landfill and transfer stations for free
- Try reusing gift bags – it will save you time and reduce waste.
