Applications are now open for five different grants through Mildura Rural City Council.
Mayor Glenn Milne invited local community groups, clubs and not-for-profit organisations to make most of the opportunity and apply before grants close on 14 September.
“The grants currently open include Environmental Project, Recreation Facilities, Recreation Development, Events and Festivals and Community Project,” Cr Milne said.
“Each grant focuses on a different aspect of our community and have slightly different criteria.
“We encourage groups to read the application guidelines carefully and speak to a Council staff member before starting their application.
Last year Council provided more than half a million dollars in grants to local community groups through its grants program.
The grants available in the current round are:
- Environmental Project Grant – funding of up to $4,000 for a twelve month period for innovative projects with a focus on issues such as water conservation, waste management, energy conservation or revegetation;
- Recreation Facilities Upgrade Grant – funding of up to $6,000 on a $2 for $1 basis for upgrades, extension or other long-term additions/improvements to facilities;
- Recreation Development Grant – funding of up to $1,000 on a $2 for $1 basis for projects, programs or small equipment to develop your sport or club;
- Community Project Grant – funding of up to $6,000 for innovative projects which contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community, have community support and/or address issues identified by the community;
- Events and Festivals Grant - funding for events which are scheduled to be held between 1 July 2016 and 31 December 2016
Applications must be submitted online, via Council’s website and staff are available to help with this process.
“I really encourage anyone looking for financial support for their project to have a close look at the grants available and if you have any questions, to please contact the staff at Council,” said Cr Milne.
Grant applications close at 4pm on 14 September 2015.
