Council to roll out storm recovery outreach program

Mildura Rural City Council will begin the next phase of its community recovery process next week with an outreach support program in the wake of last Friday’s storm event.

More than 780 people have registered for assistance at Council’s Relief Centre since last Saturday, seeking help for a wide variety of issues including food supplies, temporary accommodation, counselling, and advice and referrals for financial assistance and insurance.

Council will next week co-ordinate an outreach program with Victorian Council of Churches staff, who will begin visiting each person who registered for assistance to ensure they have received the help they needed.

These visits will start on Tuesday and are also aimed at ensuring Council is aware of any additional support residents may need as they begin the recovery process from last week’s storm.

Mildura Rural City Council’s Relief Centre, which has been open daily from 9am to 4pm since last Saturday, will close at 4pm tonight (Friday).

However residents who still need support are urged to contact Council’s recovery assistance line on 5018 8100.
