Deck chair on the move
Published on 27 June 2016
The big red Deck Chair in the Langtree Mall is on the move.
The Deck Chair was installed as part of the Langtree Mall’s 7-Day Makeover in May 2015. It has had pride of place in the Mall but has also been subject to vandalism and safety concerns.
Mark Jenkins, Manager Community Futures said the Deck Chair, which is part of the Mildura Art Centre’s public art collection, will now undergo conservation works.
“It needs a bit of conservation work to remove the graffiti and reinstate the seat. The Deck Chair will go back on exhibition in a new location at a later date,” Mr Jenkins explained.
The Deck Chair will be removed on Wednesday 29 June 2016 and as yet, no decision has been made as to what could potentially replace it in the Langtree Mall.
“Part of the idea around the 7-Day Makeover is that spaces will continue to be updated and revitalised as necessary,” Mr Jenkins said.
“There is potential to put a new piece of public art in the space or something entirely different. That will be something the City Heart, the traders and the community will need to decide and we will be working with them to find something suitable.”
