Event organisers share in $270,000 in Council grants
Published on 27 May 2022
Some of the Sunraysia region’s most innovative and popular events have shared in more than $270,000 through the latest round of Mildura Rural City Council’s Events Funding and Support Grants Program.
Councillors endorsed the latest round of funding at last night’s Ordinary Council Meeting, which includes a diverse range of both large and smaller initiatives, as well as several new events.
Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel congratulated all successful applicants.
“Our region is recognised as an events destination, drawing in hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and that’s largely due to the numerous dedicated organisers who volunteer countless hours of their own time to make their events a success,” Cr Eckel said.
“This not only provides opportunities for local competitors or members to enjoy their sport or area of interest, but serves as a vital boost for our economy through visitor spending.
“It’s also great to be able to partner with several new events this year, including SemiArid Festival, Timmis Speedway events, Murray Masters Swimming, Sunraysia Gang Show, Willys Nationals, Fair Food Week, Pine Plains Camp Oven Cook off."
Events Funding and Support Grants are available across three tiers - Hallmark Events (Tier 1), Major Events (Tier 2) and Community Events (Tier 3).
Thirty-three recipients will this year share in $271,750 in Events Funding and Support Grant funding across the three streams.
