Feedback sought on Draft RV, Caravan and Camping Strategy
Published on 03 July 2022
There is still a week left to comment on a new strategy developed by Mildura Rural City Council that will lay the groundwork for our region to further tap into Australia’s $10billion RV, caravan and camping industry.
The Draft RV, Caravan and Camping Strategy sets short, medium and long-term goals to ensure our region capitalises on opportunities to grow RV, caravan and camping visitation rates, while becoming an RV-friendly town.
Our region boasts a range of established RV, caravan, and camping facilities, with the overall objectives of the strategy to:
- Encourage RV, caravan, and camping travellers to visit the municipality
- Enhance visitor experience, increase visitor expenditure and prolong the length of stay
- Respond and adapt to shifting demand patterns, change and industry trends, catering for all users including people with disabilities and those travelling with pets
- Meet and manage the changing needs of a diverse range of travellers
- Develop a consistent approach across the municipality
- Sustainably protect and manage valued assets (natural and cultural)
- Support and enhance local businesses
Councillor for Economic Development Stefano de Pieri said the strategy had been a long time in the making.
“Our region is ideally located to attract RV owners, caravanners and campers from three different states, while also boasting some of the best camping destinations in the country,” he said.
“We are home to national parks, while also boasting all the comforts of a growing regional city.
“This strategy will pave the way for more action in this space, while laying the foundation to capitalise on opportunities to develop our region as a RV, caravan and camping hub.”

Feedback closes 5pm on Monday 11 July.
