Flagship dance company brings dynamic dance show to Mildura

Victoria’s flagship contemporary dance company, Chunky Move, is bringing one of its newest high quality dance productions to Mildura this month thanks to its new partnership with Mildura Arts Centre.

Up until 2016, Chunky Move focused on creating and touring large-scale works to major festivals and international venues.

Their change of focus to tour regionally was an attractive proposal for Mildura Arts Centre, which looks to build partnerships with leading performing arts organisations, creating opportunities for diverse programming and community development in our region.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said Mildura Arts Centre would look to build on its partnership with Chunky Move, bringing new and exhilarating dance productions to Mildura that are not usually performed in regional Victoria.

“Chunky Move’s Rule of Thirds is an energetic, powerful and highly physical dance performance that celebrates perseverance, audacity and the ongoing desire to reinvent ourselves,” Cr Modica said.

“It features four amazing performers who will mesmerise audiences with their dance techniques, physicality and stage aura.

“It is important to support touring productions that come to our region to present their works by buying tickets and benefiting from the experience of seeing something quite new, thrilling and exciting.“
