Mildura Rural City Council’s For Youth By Youth Expo will be held this month, showcasing the raft of services and organisations available for Sunraysia’s younger residents.

An initiative of Council’s Youth Action Committee, the For Youth By Youth Expo is a multi-agency event that is ultimately aimed at improving the lives of our region’s younger people by highlighting the opportunities available in our district.

To be held at Henderson Park on Friday, 15 September from 3pm to 6pm, the expo will showcase services tailored to the needs of young people in our region, including information on training courses and volunteering opportunities.

There will be 23 stallholders including the Australian Army Cadets, Australian Navy Cadets, Centacare, Girl Guides, Scouts, SuniTAFE, Leo Club of Sunraysia, Chances for Children, Victoria Police and Electric Light Theatre.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper urged people to take advantage of the event.

“Despite our relative isolation, we do have a broad range of services and organisations with programs and initiatives to help and support our younger residents,” Cr Cupper said.

“The For Youth By Youth Expo is designed to shed light on these initiatives and raise awareness among our young people about just what is available in the Mallee.”

The expo will also feature give-aways, food, live music by Loose Bricks, drumming sessions, Henna tattooing, cricket, soccer, self defence demonstrations and other activities throughout the event.
