Free stand-up comedy workshop with professional comedians

Mildura Arts Centre’s 2016 performing arts touring program kicks off with the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars performance on Tuesday 9 February at 7:30pm.

As well as making audiences laugh at their show, performers Matt Ford, Shiralee Hood, Kevin Kropinyeri and newcomer Dane Simpson will run a free stand-up comedy workshop for aspiring comedians while they’re in town.

Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said performing comedy can be exciting, exhilarating and challenging.

“We’re inviting people who might be interested in doing stand-up comedy to get along to this free workshop and learn the art from the brightest comedy stars around, The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars,” Cr Joslyn said.

“This is a rare opportunity to get an insight from comedians who are performing live throughout Australia and overseas.”

The two hour stand-up comedy workshop will be held at Mildura Arts Centre form 6pm to 8pm on Monday 8 February 2016 and bookings are essential.

To get the most from the workshop, participants are advised to bring a few ideas, or even a minute or two of material, to workshop with the performers.
