With school holidays sneaking up on us again, Mildura Rural City Council has released the September School Holiday program offering a wide variety of fun activities for 12 to 16 year olds.

One of Council’s most popular youth programs, the low-cost, fun activities will start on Monday 19 September and runs for two weeks. Young people along the Mallee Track are also being encouraged to join in with a bus running from Ouyen on Wednesday 21 September and Thursday 29 September.

Community Wellbeing and Services Councillor Sharyon Peart said the school holiday program has been developed to encourage young people to make new friends and to try something new.

Activities in this program include Inflatable World, a hit of golf at the Golf Range and Ten Pin Bowling, a day fishing and a Masterchef Challenge to name a few. The September School Holiday program is also open to young people who are in Year 6 at primary school and have turned 12, providing them with the opportunity to meet new people before they start high school.

“These are great, supervised activities with something for everyone,” Cr Peart said.  “Most of the activities run from 9am until 2pm each day and in most cases, lunch is provided as well.

“We’ve got sand tobogganing at the Perry Sandhills, a digital scavenger hunt, Bounce, Laserforce and even movies and pizza.”

“When you consider what’s planned, there really is no excuse for our young people to be bored during the holidays,” Cr Peart said. “We hope some of our young people from Ouyen and along the Mallee Track can also get involved and jump on the bus in Ouyen for a day trip to Mildura.

“The youth services team put so much effort into creating a program that offers an array of fun activities relevant to young people with different interests and passions.”

Many of the activities are free however some do have a minimal cost of $15 which is subsidised by Council.

Registrations are open now and close on Thursday 15 September at 5pm, with participants urged to get in quick as some activities have limited spaces.
