Get Creative After School program a chance to get hands-on with art
Published on 17 April 2023
Mildura Rural City Council and Arts Mildura are partnering together to provide young people with a chance to try their hand at a diverse range of different arts mediums.
The Get Creative After School program is open to young people aged 12 to 17, based around weekly sessions each Monday from 1 May to 5 June.
Based at the Arts Mildura Hub at 39 Langtree Avenue and running from 4pm to 5.30pm, the Get Creative sessions provide opportunities for young people to get hands-on with arts mediums including screen printing, mosaics, painting and more.
Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing Troy Bailey encouraged young people with an interest in the arts to take up the opportunity.
"This is a great way for young people to get a hands-on introduction to a whole range of different material used to create artwork," Cr Bailey said.
"By trying different material over the six-week program, it provides amble opportunities to develop skills in your preferred area of interest, or perhaps try your hand at an art form you've always wondered about."
The Get Creative After School program is free and no bookings are required. Participants can simply attend the Arts Mildura Hub at the indicated days and times.
All sessions are fully supervised by talented local artists who work with participants each week.
