Have your say on accessing and moving around the CBD
Published on 02 October 2020
If you have a view on parking, mobility or ease of access within the CBD, Mildura Rural City Council is seeking your feedback.
Council has started work on one of the key actions of the recently adopted Mildura CBD Plan 2020-2035 – the CBD Access and Mobility Strategy.
The strategy aims to identify ways to improve overall access to the Mildura CBD, which will ultimately help improve the economic prosperity of the precinct.
Topics addressed by the strategy will include:
- car parking supply and demand, including for people with a disability
- improving accessibility and movement around the CBD
- walking and cycling access and movement
- reviewing timed on-street car parking
- improving the location and number of car parks for people with a disability
- improving local bus services
- preferred location for a Bus Interchange.
Sunraysia residents who visit, live or work in the CBD are encouraged to complete the online survey, which can be accessed by visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay
The survey is open until Friday 23 October 2020.
This week’s launch of the community survey follows a recent round of key stakeholder workshops held mid-September, which helped identify a number of key issues and special needs. These included:
- the need to extend pedestrian crossing times over Deakin Avenue
- safer cycle paths, located off roadways
- need to ensure new residential development in the CBD comes with adequate car parking
- location and scope for underground (shaded) car park
- improving urban design to ensure ease of access from car park to footpath for people with special needs.
The CBD Access and Mobility Strategy is expected to be completed mid next year, after it has been exhibited for public comment, around February 2021.
