Help us make irrigation property valuations more accurate
Published on 31 May 2017
Owners of about 1700 irrigation properties across the municipality will soon be asked to provide a snapshot of information about their properties in a bid to ensure Council’s upcoming valuations are accurate.
Surveys will arrive in property owners’ mailboxes in coming days seeking a wide range of information such as the type and age of permanent plantings, as well as information on trellis and irrigation systems.
Mildura Rural City Council Mayor Glenn Milne said that while it was necessary for Council’s valuers to undertake these surveys under the Valuation of Land Act 1960, more importantly, it was also a vital tool to ensure valuations are not based on incorrect data.
“By collecting this information, which is kept strictly confidential and not made available to other parties, it helps us gain the most accurate, up-to-date valuation of irrigation properties in our region,” Cr Milne said.
“With this information we can ensure the valuations are an accurate reflection of a property’s value.”
Irrigation valuation surveys were sent out this week and are expected to reach property owners next week.
Property owners are asked to return their completed surveys within 14 days in the reply paid envelope. Alternatively, current crop plans can be returned to Council.
