Twilight at Mildura Arts Centre on Friday 19 February promises to be another great event with two musical performances, an exhibition opening and activities to keep the children entertained.

Rio Vista Social Club will kick off the live music at the second Twilight event of 2016. This local band of musicians and troubadours have been performing since 2009 and share a passion for playing the ukulele and also love a good sing-a-long.

Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said the Rio Vista Social Club love performing and making music.

“Besides playing the ukulele, some of the band members also play the guitar, fiddle, tin whistle and the accordion. Their set will cover all music genres from the classics through to contemporary, I am sure their performance will be fun and joyful to watch.”

A key highlight of the evening be the opening of the exhibition, Interpretive Wonderings Produced in collaboration with the Culpra Milli Aboriginal Corporation, this exhibition was created through the extensive work carried out by thirty Indigenous and non-indigenous creative practitioners who met at Culpra Station to map material and immaterial qualities of country.

“The Interpretive Wonderings exhibition will be across three gallery spaces and consists of a series of mappings in a variety of media including sound recordings, drawings, paintings, performances, film and photography,” Cr Joslyn said.

Interpretive Wonderings will be opened on Friday 19 February and will be on exhibition until Sunday 10 April.

Following on from the exhibition opening will be the second music act of the evening, Steph Rogers, who has been performing professionally for over 10 years local, nationally and overseas.

“Steph grew up in Mildura and is a singer songwriter who enjoys writing about life experiences.  She does not mind where she performs and has been playing at venues around the town. Steph has performed at the Melbourne Museum, the ABC Centre and Tamworth Country Music Festival.  She has also performed internationally including the Memminger Folk Festival in Germany.”
