Join the Clean Up in Red Cliffs
Published on 26 February 2024
Mildura Rural City Council is calling on residents to help clean up local bushland in Red Cliffs as part of Clean Up Australia Day.
Residents are welcome to join in on Sunday 3 March from 10am to 11am to clean up a section of bushland in Red Cliffs between Kauri Street and Calder Highway (directly across from Barclay Square).
Those who wish to take part can either join on the day at the meeting point, at the footpath near the railway line that crosses into Kauri Street, or pre-register online at https://register.cleanup.org.au/fundraisers/38629/
Participants will receive a free Clean Up kit containing gloves and Clean Up Australia Day bags to collect rubbish and recyclables. Please wear enclosed shoes.
Councillor for Environment and Sustainability Jason Modica encouraged the community to roll up their sleeves and get behind the cause.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a rewarding experience that goes beyond just picking up rubbish. It's a great initiative that demonstrates that we as a community are committed to protecting our environment and take pride in our local spaces,” Cr Modica said.
“Witnessing first-hand the types of litter in our streets and bushlands helps us understand how our personal or household footprints impact the environment. It encourages us to consider ways to prevent litter from entering our environment in the first place.”
