Mildura’s Etiwanda Wetlands will be given some special treatment this Sunday when it becomes the focus of our annual Clean Up Australia Day event.

Organised by Mildura Rural City Council and the Sunraysia Sustainability Network, this Sunday’s event will coincide with hundreds of similar Clean Up Australia Day events across the country.

Councillor for Environment and Farming Sustainability Anthony Cirillo encouraged Sunraysia residents to get behind the event.

“This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy a fun, community-based day with like-minded people while helping to clean up and preserve one of our important wetlands at the same time,” Cr Cirillo said.

“We also hope that through events like this we’ll encourage people to help protect and look after our unique environment.

“Previous events have proven a resounding success, with last year’s event attracting more than 25 residents and resulting in more than 15 bags of rubbish removed from the Mildura riverfront.”

This Sunday’s event will run from 11am to midday and include light refreshments from midday.

Residents interested in taking part can either register as a volunteer at https://cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/Etiwanda+Wetlands or simply join on the day.

People taking part are to make their way down Etiwanda Avenue towards the Murray River, to meet at the Etiwanda Wetlands car park, where staff will be on hand to either take registrations on the day or provide Clean Up Australia Day bags for rubbish and recyclables.
