Award winning and internationally recognised dance performer Shaun Parker is returning to Mildura Arts Centre for our Diamond Jubilee Celebrations - In Conversation event on Friday 7 October.
In our fourth In Conversation event, the audience will be treated to a screening of dance and hear the story of a local boy who has now gained international recognition on the stage of performance and dance.
Shaun who was born and grew up in Mildura, started on his journey of dance when he was thirteen years old. He began his dance training at Mildura Ballet and Dance Guild before moving to Melbourne to study a Bachelor of Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Science at Monash University.
It was after this that he embarked on what is now known as a successful performance career, which saw him work with leading companies such as Meryl Tankard’s Australia Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Opera Australia, as well as time with Meredith Monk in New York and Sasha Waltz in Berlin.
Shaun now leads Shaun Parker & Company as Artistic Director and Choreographer. The company are renowned for their powerful, humanist, dance theatre productions and have toured extensively Australia, Malaysia, the Middle East, Serbia, Austria and the United Kingdom.
