Mildura Rural City Council is thrilled to be reopening three of its key community facilities after COVID-19 restrictions forced their closure more than two months ago.

The Mildura Library, Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre and Mildura Arts Centre will all reopen tomorrow, Tuesday 2 June, following the easing of State Government restrictions.

Council CEO Sarah Philpott said staff had done an incredible amount of work behind the scenes to get these important facilities back open for the community to enjoy.

“Staff and public safety is our number one priority, so we have put strict measures in place to ensure we’re adhering to all the relevant guidelines and importantly, playing our part to help slow the spread of coronavirus,” Ms Philpott said.

“We know the community has missed being able to access our facilities in person, and we’re looking forward to welcoming people back through the doors.”

Ms Philpott reiterated that the key health messages still stood firm, and encouraged everyone to stay safe by maintaining good hygiene, keeping their distance from others and staying home they felt unwell.

She also thanked the community for embracing the services Council had made available whilst facilities were closed.

“While the doors have been closed to the public, our staff have come up with creative and innovative workarounds to keep delivering services, in some form or another, for the benefit of the community.

“Like so many local businesses and workplaces, we’ve had to adapt and evolve and I am extremely proud of how our organisation has approached the challenges of the pandemic,” Ms Philpott said.

While Council’s Service Centres will remain closed to the public until further notice, however staff continue to work remotely and are available to assist residents over the phone and online.
