Pet registrations are now overdue, meaning if you didn’t do so by the 10 April deadline your pet is now unregistered.

All cats and dogs over three months must be microchipped and registered with Mildura Rural City Council, which helps ensure lost animals can be reunited with their owners if found by Council staff or returned to the Mildura Pound.

Council staff will be door-knocking pet owners in coming weeks to ensure their animals are registered.

Councillor for Community Safety Simon Clemence said that aside from being compulsory in Victoria, pet registration offered numerous benefits to pet owners.

“Pet registration is a valuable tool for people who may lose their animals, as their pets can quickly and easily be identified if they’re found by Council staff or returned by a member of the public,” Cr Clemence said.

Registration fees vary depending on the animal and whether it has been de-sexed. Pensioner discounts are also available.
