The Nowingi Place on Mildura’s riverfront will be the place to be on December 31 with a fantastic free family event planned to rein in the New Year.
Mildura Rural City Council invites locals and visitors alike to join community New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Mayor Glenn Milne said a brilliant line up of entertainment is scheduled for the event with something for the whole family to enjoy.
“Our New Year’s Eve celebrations at the riverfront are growing in popularity every year,” Cr Milne said.
“Last year more than 5,500 people enjoyed the event and I’m sure this year will be just as well-attended.”
A performance from children’s favourite Postman Pat will kick off the celebrations before local acoustic musician Todd Griffiths takes to the stage to entertain the audience.
Batman and Wonderwoman will make a special appearance on stage and roam the crowds as part of a performance from the Justice League crew and local act Ratbagz Comedy Theatre will rev up the crowd covering classic hits from the 70s and 80s.
To finish the show, INXSIVE will pump out their tribute show to Australian rock greats INXS.
The night will also feature two spectacular fireworks displays with the Prime7 Family Fireworks erupting at 9:30pm and another magnificent display to fill the skies at the stroke of midnight.
This drug, alcohol and glass free event will kick off at 8pm and there will be children’s amusements and refreshments available to purchase.
“I encourage families to bring a picnic rug, a deck chair and come along for a fun evening to mark the end of 2014 and welcome in the New Year,” Cr Milne said.
New Year’s Eve celebrations start at 8pm at the Nowingi Place on Mildura’s riverfront, Hugh King Drive.
