Mildura Marina gardens clean-up

Published on 01 June 2017

Mildura Rural City Council will next week start the first stage of works to reinstate landscaping and gardens in the Mildura Marina area which were damaged by last November’s Murray River flooding.

The minor flooding of the Murray River late last year and early this year impacted large areas of the city’s riverfront, including the marina area, leaving vegetation along the marina foreshore dead once river levels receded.

Starting Monday, Council will undertake major clean-up works to remove the dead vegetation, including excavating the surface along the marina.

Councillor for Environmental Sustainability Anthony Cirillo said the works were expected to take between five and eight days to complete.

“These clean-up works will then pave the way for a suitable landscaping strategy, which will be developed in coming weeks,” Cr Cirillo said.

“Once completed, we’ll not only have attractive landscaping around the marina area, but a landscaping plan that is more sustainable into the future.”
