The nine successful candidates from the local government elections will be officially sworn in as Mildura Rural City Councillor’s tonight.
Following the declaration of election results by the Victorian Electoral Commission last week, Glenn Milne, Ali Cupper, Simon Clemence, Min Poole, Greg Brown, Max Thorburn, Mark Eckel, Jason Modica and Anthony Cirillo will commit to carrying out their duties as Councillor’s.
Chief Executive Officer, Gerard José said once all candidates had been sworn in as Councillor’s, they would then make a signed declaration that they have read the Councillor Code of Conduct for the Mildura Rural City Council and that they will abide by this code.
“The Annual Council meeting gives successful candidates the opportunity to publicly commit to their roles as elected representatives of our community,” Mr José said.
At the meeting the Councillor’s will also review the intention to set the Councillor and Mayoral allowances. The public will then be invited to make submissions on proposed allowances.
“The last item on the agenda will be the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Any portfolios and committee positions will be on the agenda for the Councillor’s first Ordinary Meeting,” said Mr José.
“We’re looking forward to introducing our new Councillor’s to the community. Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and we’d encourage them to attend, as our new Council undertakes their first official duties of their term,” said Mr José.
The Annual Council meeting will be held in the Council Room at Council’s Deakin Avenue Service Centre, 78 Deakin Avenue, Mildura at 5pm this Thursday 10 November 2016.
