New funding opportunity for not-for-profit and community groups

Published on 27 January 2021

A new funding program is now available to help not-for-profit and community groups create projects that bring family, friends and community together.

The Community Activation Funding program aims to help residents build new social connections and networks through involvement in local projects or activities, and is funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Activation and Social Isolation (CASI) program.

Mildura Mayor Jason Modica said the new initiative features an easy, quick-turnaround funding application process, making it easier for local groups to apply for funding.

“We’re fortunate in our municipality to have numerous hard-working not-for-profit groups which have plenty of great ideas for initiatives that would benefit the broader community,” Cr Modica said.

“With this new funding program we’re hoping to empower these groups by either reducing or removing the burden of trying to attract funding for their ideas.

“By doing so we hope to see more community initiatives get up and running, which can make a real difference in our region by providing opportunities for residents to build new social connections and support networks, or simply better connect with family and friends.

“Examples could include community art projects, club or group membership subsidies or come-and-try sessions.”

Not-for-profit and/or incorporated community organisations can apply for between $500 and $3000 in funding up to 31 May this year, or until the funding stream has been exhausted.

Applications can be made by visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/CommunityActivation
