Nitro Circus action sports event to ‘power up’ our economy
Published on 13 November 2017
MORE than 2600 visitors are expected to flock to Mildura for one very special afternoon in April next year as one of the biggest names in global action sports descends on Sunraysia.
Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus Next Level Tour will make Mildura one of just two Victorian shows, and one of just eight across the country when it arrives at the Mildura Recreation Reserve on Saturday, 7 April.
Brought to Sunraysia with support from Mildura Rural City Council, the event will not only be a boon for action sports fans, but the broader Sunraysia economy.
“As one of only two Victorian shows – the other is more than 500 kilometres away in Warrnambool – we’re expecting our event to bring in visitors from a large catchment area which will provide a significant cash injection for our economy,” Mildura Rural City Council Mayor and Economic Development and Tourism portfolio Councillor Mark Eckel said.
“Based on about 7000 spectators, more than 2600 of whom are expected to be visitors, this event should provide more than $860,000 in direct economic benefits for our economy in just one weekend through increased activity in our accommodation, hospitality, retail and associated sectors.
In addition to action sports icon Travis Pastrana, the Nitro Circus Next Level Tour will feature an assortment of globally recognised action sports athletes, including Gregg Duffy and Harry Bink, as well as a host of BMX, scooter and inline athletes.
Promising to bring “the biggest ramps on the planet” among a host of crazy contraptions, stunts and equipment, April’s event is expected to be a major attraction not just for Sunraysia residents but for residents hundreds of kilometres away.
