Options available to pay your rates

Published on 23 August 2024

Mildura Rural City Council is offering residents several options to make paying their rates easier and more convenient over the coming 12 months.

Most residents will already have received their rates notices in the mail, or via eNotices, making it the ideal time to consider which option is best for them.

Residents will be aware they can pay their rates in instalments, the first of which is due on Monday 30 September, or in one lump sum on Monday, 17 February.

However residents can also elect to pay by direct debit, similar to the way many residents pay their power or telephone bills.

Council offers five direct debit options:

  • Option 1: fortnightly payments of an amount nominated by residents (all year around)
  • Option 2: 18 fortnightly payments (between September and May)
  • Option 3: nine monthly payments (between September and May)
  • Option 4: four instalments
  • Option 5: one annual payment.

Those considering option 2 or 3 have until 31 August to sign up.

To arrange to pay your rates via direct debit visit www.mildura.vic.gov.au/Council/Rates-Valuations or visit our Deakin Avenue, Madden Avenue or Ouyen Service Centres.

Anyone experiencing financial difficulties or having trouble making rates payments should contact Council as soon as possible to discuss their circumstances and make alternative arrangements.

Residents used to paying their rates online are reminded there has been a change to the BPAY reference number on their rates notice this year and to update any previously saved payment details with the new number on their payment slip.

Rates can be paid in person at any of Council’s Service Centres and Australia Post outlets, online, via BPAY, mail or via Centrepay for those receiving Centrelink payments.
