Pedestrian crossing works in Deakin Avenue

Published on 09 May 2017

Motorists are urged to be mindful that contractors will be removing a large tree from the Deakin Avenue centre plantation near Fifteenth Street this Thursday, 11 May.

The tree will be removed to allow the installation by VicRoads of a pedestrian crossing across Deakin Avenue, near the entrance to Mildura Central.

Removal of the tree, a Melaleuca which was damaged by the Remembrance Day storms last year, is not associated with the Deakin Avenue Master Plan and has no link to the existing Deakin Avenue tree theme, which is based on Jacarandas.

Once VicRoads completes the pedestrian crossing, Council will identify a suitable site nearby to replace the tree.

Removal of the tree will improve access and vision for pedestrians using the new crossing.
