If you haven’t registered your pet for the coming 12 months, you still have time, with registrations due on Wednesday 10 April.

All cats and dogs over three months must be microchipped and registered with Mildura Rural City Council, which helps ensure lost animals can be reunited with their owners if found by Council staff or returned to the Mildura Pound.

Councillor for Community Safety Gavin Sedgmen said that while pet registration was compulsory, it was in residents’ best interest to ensure their cat or dog was registered.

“As any animal-owner will know, it can be quite distressing if your pet goes missing, and one of the most effective ways to ensure you’re reunited as quickly as possible is to ensure your cat or dog is registered,” Cr Sedgmen said.

Registration fees vary depending on the animal and whether it has been de-sexed. Pensioner discounts are also available.
