Published on 15 June 2017
There’ll be no reason for teens to be bored during the upcoming winter school holidays, with Mildura Rural City Council offering a jam-packed program of free and low-cost activities for 12 to 16 year olds.
Enrolments in Council’s Youth Services School Holiday Activities are now open and filling fast.
A range of fun and educational activities are planned, including Foot Golf at the Red Cliffs Golf Club, a dance workshop led by Limitless Dance Academy, Basketball Fun Day, Tour to Mungo National Park and Freestyle Art Session.
Community Development Portfolio Councillor Min Poole encouraged local families to make the most of these low-cost activities.
”The school holidays can sometimes be a challenge for families as there is often high costs linked with activities for young people,” Cr Poole said.
“Council is fortunate to have secured funding through the Victorian Government’s Engage Program which means we can offer fun and educational activities without having to charge much.”
Cr Poole said there were ten different activities planned between Monday 3 and Friday 14 July and they were open to anyone aged 12 to 16 years. Lunch and morning tea is provided with most activities.
Two activities will cater specifically for residents living in the south of the region with a bus running from Ouyen to Mildura on Wednesday 5 and Wednesday 12 July.
“The bus service will give young people who live at Ouyen and along the Mallee Track a better chance of attending the Laserforce and Golf Range & Ten Pin Bowling activities in Mildura.”
Places in each activity are limited so families are encouraged to enrol their child as soon as possible. Enrolments close Friday 30 June 2017.

These School Holiday activities are funded by Mildura Rural City Council and the Victorian Government’s Engage Program which aims to provide opportunities for young people to participate in activities which build their skills, knowledge and pathways as well as develop support networks with families, peers and community.
