Sign up for Council’s first Youth Action Team

Are you interested in helping to improve opportunities for young people in our region? Do you have ideas for activities and events for young people?
You could be perfect for Mildura Rural City Council’s new Youth Action Team!
Mildura Rural City Council’s Youth Engagement Services is currently calling on young people aged 12 to 25 to join the Youth Action Team.
The team will take an active role in ensuring the needs of our region’s young people are heard, while also being tasked with hosting activities and events aimed at our region’s youth.
Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing Cyndi Power said the group would also open up a range of wonderful opportunities and experiences for participants.
“This includes discussing youth issues, helping to organise youth events and taking part in personal development opportunities,” she said.
“We know we have some very talented and enthusiastic young people in our region, and this is a great way for them to further explore opportunities for personal development, meet new like-minded people and participate in activities that are planned by young people to provide a sense of achievement.
“It’s a chance for young people to develop leadership skills, learn how local government works and, importantly, provide a voice for young people that will be heard.
“This group will make a difference in identifying issues important to them and other youth in the region.”
Those interested can sign up online at mildura.vic.gov.au/YouthActionTeam before 5pm on Wednesday 1 September.
The Youth Action Team will meet fortnightly at the Mildura Library during school terms and will be supervised and supported by Council’s Youth Engagement staff.
