Six Council grants opening soon
Published on 27 January 2016
Community groups and organisations are being encouraged to apply for one of six Mildura Rural City Council grants when applications open on Monday 8 February 2016.
Funding is available through the following grants programs:
- Arts Development
- Commercial Waste Management
- Events and Festivals (for events held between 1 January and 30 June 2017)
- Recreation Development
- Recreation Facilities Upgrade
- Rural Access
“It is fantastic to be able to offer these valuable community grants again this year,” Mayor Glenn Milne said.
“There are six different programs opening in early February, with funding from $1,000 up to $50,000 available depending on your project, program or event.”
Council will host information sessions to give community groups, clubs, not-for-profit organisations, businesses and residents important details about the different types of grants available.
“I really encourage anyone looking for financial support for their project to come along to these sessions,” said Cr Milne “We have a great variety of funding available and can help you with any questions you might have about the process.”
The information sessions will be held in Ouyen on Monday 1 February and Mildura and Tuesday 2 February.
Cr Milne said support would be provided for anyone who is unfamiliar with the online grant application process and copies of the guide to Applying for Council Grants would also be available.
It is important the applicants read the grant guidelines carefully as Council has recently adopted new policies which has seen some changes to grants eligibility criteria.
“We also want to remind people who are looking at projects on Council-owned or managed land or facilities that they must apply for and receive approved Land Managers Consent from Council prior to submitting a grant application,” Cr Milne said.
“The Land Managers Consent process can take up to 6 weeks from the date the completed application form is received until the final approval comes through
