Sustainable living focus at Mildura Eco Village Open Day
Published on 08 November 2018
This weekend’s Mildura Eco Village Open Day is the perfect opportunity for the community to learn more about living sustainably in our region while meeting a host of like-minded people.
The Open Day will be held this Sunday 11 November from midday to 2pm and see all Mildura Eco Village facilities open to the public.
These facilities will include the Community Garden, Solar Distillation Unit and Eco House and Education Centre, with a focus on sustainability and resource conservation, taking in water, energy, waste and biodiversity.
Councillor for Farming and Environmental Sustainability Anthony Cirillo said it was also a chance for residents who may not have visited the Eco Village to take it in for the first time.
“Our Eco Village has now been operating for more than five years and has been the inspiration for countless local projects, or simply a great place to find tips on how people can live more sustainably in their own homes,” Cr Cirillo said.
“It’s also the base for several like-minded community groups in our region, who will be able to showcase their ideas and innovations.”
In addition to the regular Mildura Eco Village facilities, this weekend’s Open Day will also feature the Christie Centre’s Trash to Art Outdoor Acquisitive Exhibition, which features artwork produced from recycled, discarded and salvaged items.
There will also be children’s activities provided by the Mulberry Tree Play Group.
