Three new upgrades to be unveiled this weekend

Collaboration and joint funding efforts will see three recently completed local recreation projects formally unveiled this weekend.
New facilities and infrastructure at Quandong Park in Red Cliffs, Kenny Park in Merbein and the Old Aerodrome Sporting Complex in Mildura will be officially launched by Mildura Rural City Council’s Mayor Glenn Milne on Saturday.
Recreation and Sport portfolio Councillor Mark Eckel said the projects are all examples of how our whole community can benefit when Council, Clubs and the State Government work together.
“These three projects cost over $500,000 to complete and while no one group or organisation had the money to do this alone, together we’ve seen all three become a reality,” Cr Eckel said.
“The increased facilities for female competitors, trainers and umpires at Quandong Park in Red Cliffs and at Kenny Park in Merbein are particularly great to see. Women are an integral part of our local sporting scene and making sure they have appropriate facilities is very important.”
Members from the clubs involved in the projects will gather for a group opening at Quandong Park on Saturday 29 August 2014 at 12:45pm to celebrate their hard work and achievements.
