Time to start thinking about the Easter Holidays

Published on 17 February 2016

While it may seem like the kids have only just gone back to school, Mildura Rural City Council is reminding everyone that registrations are already open for the Easter School Holiday program.

One of Council’s most popular programs, the low cost, fun activities for young people aged between 12 and 16, starts on Tuesday 29 March and runs throughout the two week school break.

Community Wellbeing and Services Councillor Sharyon Peart said the school holidays were the perfect time for young people to try something new and she encouraged local families to make the most of the activities on offer.

“These are great, supervised activities with something for everyone,” Cr Peart said.  “All the activities run from 9am until 2pm each day and in most cases, lunch is provided as well.”

Activities for the next school holidays include much loved favourites such as Laserforce, Inflatable World, Sand Tobogganing, House of Bounce and swimming at Mildura Waves planned for those liking a bit of activity.  There’s also a Master Chef challenge, art day and a woodworking session for those who like to be a bit more creative.

“With the weather a bit cooler in March, the popular Digital Scavenger Hunt is also back,” Cr Peart said. “Some of the activities are free while others have a cost of $15 per activity.  Council works hard to keep the prices affordable and subsidises all the activities.

“The youth services team put so much effort into creating a program that offers an array of activities relevant to young people with different interests and passions.”

“When you consider what’s planned, there really is no excuse for our young people to be bored during the last few weeks of the holidays.”

Registrations are open now and close on Tuesday 22 March 2016, with participants urged to get in quick as some activities have limited spaces.
