Traders and retailers the focus of second Mall 7 Day Makeover
Published on 18 August 2015
Supporting Mildura’s retailers and businesses to build a prosperous city heart will be the aim of a second 7 Day Makeover in the Langtree Mall.
Scheduled to run from October 5 to 11, the retail focussed 7 Day Makeover is an opportunity to build on the great momentum of the first Mall makeover that was held in June.
Mildura mayor Glenn Milne said Makeover 2 was a chance for retailers to reap the benefits of place-making, and apply them to their own businesses.
“In June more than 80 people volunteered to be part of the first 7 Day Makeover in the Langtree Mall and that had great results,” Cr Milne said.
“This second makeover will focus on supporting the retailers in Mildura’s City Heart and using the principles of place-making to help build Mildura’s CBD as a prosperous and vibrant destination.”
Retailers, business owners and traders are key to the second makeover, and makeover facilitator David Engwicht is hopeful that they will jump at the opportunity to apply place-making techniques to their day-to-day operations.
“As well as the business owners, the wider community can also get involved with this second makeover and we would love to see people jump on board and support it as volunteers, similar to the last makeover,” David said.
An information night about Makeover 2 will be held in the Benetook Room at the Alfred Deakin Centre from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 27 August and David encouraged locals to attend.
“We have a bold plan for Makeover 2 and I hope the Mildura community will join in and be part of it.”
