Twilight at MAC just the tonic for a Friday night
Published on 15 December 2015
Local band TONIC will perform at the last Twilight event of the year at Mildura Arts Centre this Friday.
In what promises to be an uplifting and entertaining evening, father and daughter duo David and Sophie Harris will play a wide range of modern music sprinkled with some old classics. They have been playing music together for 23 years, but only in the last year have made it quite the occasion. They play a range of instruments including Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Violin and Double Bass to give a modern feel with a folk flavour.
Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said the Harris family has always had strong ties with music in the Mildura region. David Harris has performed in bands such as IQ Zero, Le Cats, The Cellarats and The Shared Affair, who performed last month at Twilight.
“David was the founding member of the Bushfire Band, a successful bush band who entertained many people throughout Sunraysia for over 10 years,” Cr Joslyn said.
“Sophie began her music career on violin under the watchful eye of Vaughan Stirrat (2008 Elliott Award recipient) at 5 years old. She also began singing and taught herself to play the guitar and performed with her dad in the Bushfire band.”
TONIC has evolved from a love for music and a complete desire to entertain. They bring life to music that caters for everyone.
