Volunteers wanted for second 7 Day Makeover

Residents are invited to get involved in Mildura’s second 7 Day Makeover which kicks off next week.
Running from October 5 to 11, next week’s initiative will focus on supporting Mildura’s retailers and businesses to make the entire city heart a vibrant and prosperous precinct.
Mayor Glenn Milne said more than a dozen retailers had put their hands up to be part of the makeover and that the wider community was also encouraged to get involved.
“In June more than 80 residents volunteered their time to help makeover the Langtree Mall in just seven days, and the incredible results speak for themselves,” Cr Milne said.
“This second makeover will focus on the entire city heart, not just the Mall. Community participants will collaborate with the retailers who have volunteered their time and their businesses to be part of the makeover.”
Plans for Mildura’s second 7 Day Makeover will be determined by the retailers and residents who get involved.
Makeover facilitator David Engwicht will host a workshop on Monday 5 October from 7:30am–5:30pm in the Benetook Room at Mildura’s Alfred Deakin Centre where people can learn more about the makeover, help generate ideas and choose which ones will be implemented throughout the week.
“Mildura’s first 7 Day Makeover was a huge success because so many locals put their hands up and embraced the opportunity to take ownership of a public space,” David said.
“I hope just as many people will jump on board and support this makeover too.”
If you can’t attend the Workshop during the day on Monday, people can go along to a Planning Night on Monday 5 October from 7pm-9pm. Also being held in the Benetook Room at the Alfred Deakin Centre, the Planning Night is a great opportunity to hear what is planned for the makeover and decide how you can be involved.
“Makeover 2 is shaping up to be very exciting and I hope the Mildura community will join in and be part of it.”
