Water Play Park 'lake' to be refilled

Published on 13 January 2017

Mildura Rural City Council will begin refilling the Water Play Park ‘lake’ next Friday following the completion of sealing works which began yesterday.

The sealing works to the lake floor and wall are being undertaken while the lake is empty and are a proactive measure to ensure there is no future leakage from the lake.

Council apologises for the delay and appreciates the community’s patience while these works are completed.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Mark Eckel said that while the delay was unfortunate, it was encouraging to see so many residents and visitors continue to use the Water Play Park.

“Obviously we’d prefer the lake was full, but the lake needed to be drained ahead of the recent floods, and these latest maintenance works are important and need to be carried out,” Cr Eckel said.

“However, it was encouraging to see that despite the lake being empty there continued to be hundreds of children, adults and families down by the riverfront enjoying this wonderful facility.”

Once the refilling process starts, the lake is expected to be completely full within seven to 10 days.
